Yet more congratulations to ex-Junior Sharks with families in Sheffield. Will Hall and Nigel Van Oostrum have made the Great Britain U20 final 13 for the European Championships (Division B) this summer . Click here for more information.
The new league structure for 2010-11 season have also been the talking point over the last week. Click here if you have yet to see this. The formation of an U15 Northern league will see the Junior Sharks challenge last year's champions Cheshire Jets as well as "the Magic", news from the camp is that this is more than welcome and they are already getting ready for the contests ahead.

Here's an update with what's happening over the summer: Firstly we'd like to congratulate those that have made the U17 Yorkshire squad. This squad is made up of the following Sharks: Josh Adams, George Brownell, Conor Faulkner, Callum McKenzie, Dave Price (opted to play for Wales however) and Jim Rose. The squad is completed by three from Doncaster three from York and one player from Bradford. we hope your training goes well for the tournament in early July.
The U13s we mentioned previously are also training up for Lilleshall; the Yorkshire U13 website can be found here.

U15 regional tournament - summary
We think the weekend's verdict is that everything was OK. Nothing brilliant, nothing a disaster, not played off the court and generally finished in a position that sums it up, which is somewhere in the middle - 7th.
Not to say that 100% effort from the lads wasn't given as they played with true Yorkshire grit. So after playing at 9.00 am today, after a long day yesterday and many setting off early to travel, the 63-48 score line was not a true reflection of the game. However the victory over the North East was as the 59-34 score suggests - good.
Well done to all the squad and if there are any developments from this weekend we'll be sure to report.

5th June 2010
A great 81-28 victory against Wales followed by a tense match which was lost 58-43 against the South means that Yorkshire are to play at 9.00am tomorrow to decide 5th to 8th place. The East Midlands beat London and the East beat the North West which makes these two teams likely to contest the final. It also means the two teams they beat fall into the same play off pool tomorrow. So it's Yorkshire vs London as more great basketball action continues. Everyone have an early night as it's another early start. Well done to the team so far and let's see if a top half finish can be achieved.
4th June 2010
On the eve of tomorrow's tournament we have another Junior Shark to offer our congratulations to. Tommy Price will be facing his teammates whilst representing Wales. We hope you have a good game and tournament too.

U15 Boys Inter-regional Tournament 2010 - Preview
The emphasis on the U15 tournament in Nottingham this weekend is summarised by the EBL “While there are games played at the Inter-Regional tournament, the focus is not on winning the tournament but on learning. The focus is player development through enabling players to learn and understand the key British team concepts and apply their individual skills that they have learned at club or APC level.”
However another quote (from Star Trek) is “If winning is not important, why keep score?” so there are interesting perspectives on this weekend.
On one hand it is the chance for Yorkshire talent to be shown at its best, but on the other hand they want to be seen as the best. We know that a lot of the squad played together 2 years ago at Lilleshall and they had the joint best ever finish for Yorkshire which was third and looking at the fixtures this time, it again looks an achievable position (or maybe higher?)
So it is a balance of enjoyment, showcasing and competitive spirit that will make this weekend’s basketball good to watch.
Yorkshire play two games on Saturday, one at 10.00am against Wales and the next at 4.00pm against the South. If you can’t make it then please use our twitter panel on the right where the scores will be posted. The results will then inform the fixtures on Sunday when finishing positions will be determined. The EBL page can be found here.
This is the full squad in numerical order, the Junior Sharks are identified by JS and we also indicate which age group they played for last season. This is because this tournament is for those born in 95 (or later) as opposed to school years as per EBL. All the best to all players, families and supporters from the club..
Trey Bitton-Price, Wesley Skaines (JSU15), Tyler Gayle (JSU14), Marcus Welsh (JSU14), Joshua Edwards (JSU14), Dennis Kaka (JSU15), Lemar Darien-Campbell (JSU15), Callum Saxon, Connor Dixon (JSU14), Dale Stennett (JSU15), Oliver Hannam, Charlie Harvey.
