31st October 2009

The first result of the weekend sees the U16s win away at Birmingham. Four fixtures left for tomorrow!

29th October 2009

As mentioned a busy weekend ahead. We’ve posted a preview of the potentially tough U18 fixture. Meanwhile the U16s face a double header weekend with the second match against Manchester on Sunday (enough said). Some of the U14s will be reacquainting themselves with their Lilleshall friends. This time, however, they will be on the opposing side of Leeds Carnegie. In amongst all this the U15s have to face the long journey up to Newcastle.

28th October 2009

All the reports from the weekend’s action are now on the site, but you need to look for them. There’s the U18 regular report, the cup report and we’ve put a Lilleshall report in the U14s information section.

We said earlier today that we hoped the Halloween and half term jollities don’t affect a fairly full fixture list this weekend. News just in of an U14 out of action, we hope you mend fast Connor (Big D).

Please note that the one fixture awaiting confirmation has now been done and the U15s are playing away at Newcastle on Sunday instead of Saturday.

25th October 2009

A bit of a rollercoaster for those involved with Sheffield basketball action this weekend. Firstly the U18s lost their 100% start to the season with an overtime defeat away at Stockport only to bounce back with a convincing cup win. They now face a next round fixture against the team they met in the final last year: Manchester Magic!

Similar ups and downs at Lilleshall where Sharks’ players representing Yorkshire could only manage 7th place but the reward was that U13 Marko Backovic was selected to fast-track with the England U15s. Congratulations to him and his family as well as the other players and families (Sharks and non-Sharks) who travelled; we hope you all had a good weekend and a safe journey back.

In the BBL the Sharks lost their top spot with a defeat on Friday but bounced back with a victory at Plymouth.

A report from last week’s U16 match is now posted.

21st October 2009

The second preview for this weekend is of
the annual Lilleshall U14s regional
tournament. Those associated with the
club need no introduction to this; needless
to say it is a way in which to find players
of the future. This year it’s the 1996 boy’s
tournament and the Sharks are proud to
have two U13 players: Marko Backovic
and George Darling and two U14 players:
Eddy Brownell and Marcus Welsh
representing the Yorkshire region. The Club offer congratulations to them and their families and hope they have a good weekend. Also two U14s: Michael Carnall and David Frost have made the reserve list, well done too for your hard work over the summer.

If you want to know how the Yorkshire team are faring the results should be on our “Twitter” page throughout the weekend.

20th October 2009

We have two lots of previews this week. The first is of the 2 matches that the U18s play this weekend. The first in the league and the second in the Sureshot cup. These can be found in the fixture panel below. Let’s hope there are no arrows of outrageous fortune on Sunday!

We’ll publish the second preview, which is of an important annual basketball event, later in the week.

19th October 2009

Reports for the U18s and U13s now posted. Return tomorrow for previews of the U18 double header weekend.

18th October 2009

The U18s keep their 100% record intact with a victory today over Sefton.

17th October 2009

The U13s cruise to two victories, but we hear there are lessons to be learnt. The U16s have an eventful victory over Notts whilst the U15s, although losing, seem to have come good in the end. The season is underway! Report from the U15 game now posted.

16th October 2009

The wait for the new season to start is finally over for the U13s, U15s and U16s. The Club sends their best wishes to players, coaches, backroom staff, families and supporters. To quote Michael Jordan “Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championships.” so the Club must be up for some honours this year!

A quick update for the U14 followers who have yet to start their season; Denby Dale have dropped out so there are no U14 fixtures on the 5th December and 13th March. The fixtures have been amended to show this.

13th October 2009

As part of the build up to the new season we have a special feature on the U13s, many who start the new season as new sharks (or is that pups?). This can be found in the U13 information page.

Sefton have withdrawn their U16 team which means no fixtures for the U16s on 14th November and 13th February. The fixtures have been amended to reflect this.

12th October 2009

Report from Saturday's game now on the website. Preview for this Saturday's U18s game available.

10th October 2009

5th October 2009

The report from yesterday's match versus Trafford has now been posted. Northants match to come.

East Riding Harriers have pulled out of the U15 NE league which means that there is a reduced fixture list for the U15s. The site has now been amended to reflect this.

Squad photo and roster for the U18s is now on the site.

4th October 2009

Trafford come out of their corner with great gusto to challenge the Sharks but over 40 mins it is the Sharks U18s who wrap up a second victory this weekend.
