Sheffield Saints u16 vs Trafford

As the starting five took to the court the supporters were wondering whether there would be any similarities with the Saturday match, little did they know.

So with Tyler, Marcus, ConnorD, Marko and Kenneth on the court it was obviously the Saints meant business. However the game started in a similar fashion to the last match with both teams trading baskets. With Marko, Marcus and ConnorD contributing to a 10-10 score line half way through the quarter. Then Marcus decided to take the game into his own hands. Within 2 minutes he’d notched up 7 points, Marko chipped in and Trafford were playing catch up. The opposition tried to get back in but Josh bagged a trey and with 4 more from Marcus an 8 point lead had been established at the end of the quarter.

Quarter two had similarities with the previous day as again the Saints were inexplicably out of sorts. After 6 minutes Trafford were up in the quarter 9-4 with Marcus and Marko the only scorers. However a burst from Josh (4 points) and a basket from George got the show back on the road. Kenneth got his first basket before Montell’s trey gave a low scoring quarter to the Saints 15-9.

Normal service was resumed in quarter 3. We saw seven of the Saints players register scores. Marko decided it was his turn to take Trafford to the sword as he started the quarter off with a trey. ConnorD , Marcus, Tyler and Daniel registered scores whilst Eddy came on for a trey too. With Josh getting a one from two and Eddy also getting time at the free throw line it was all too much for the opposition as Marko registered an 11 point quarter.

Again similarities with the previous match as coach Garnet mixed up the five on court for the final quarter as we saw David, ConorDS, Montell, Eddy and Daniel get lots of court time. David and ConorDS seemed to be on a mission as ConorDS racked up basket after basket; David grabbed a couple of treys (same as yesterday) as well as a free throw and lay up. With a supporting cast of Marko and ConnorD the game was put to bed. Trafford tried alternative tactics as their number 7 took out two of the Saints supporters to general amusement of those at the game (we hope you’ve recovered Ben and Rob). A good victory and one that moved the Saints into second place in the table.

A very good all round team performance that saw some excellent shooting alongside 6 three pointers. Maybe the means to break down tough defences has been found?
