Junior Saints U18’s 72 v Tees Valley Mohawks 71

 
Junior Saints pulled off the narrowest of victories against a tall and organised Mohawks side. The Mohawks team came into the game with two outstanding scorers both averaging 20 points per game. Saints game plan was to keep their scorers below their averages and control rebounds against some tall inside players.
 
Unfortunately which ever defensive strategy Saints tried did not slow down their scorers and that combined with some poor shooting from the home team kept the game close.
 
Credit Saints for showing great fighting spirit and not giving up. They eventually scored the winning basket with 17 seconds left in the game. This was followed by a flurry of timeouts as the coaches prepared their end of game tactics. Tees Valley had the last shot, which missed, Saints captured the rebound and saw the game out.
