Saints U18’s play hard but lose on the boards

Saints 68 – Westminster 71

In a hard fought game the Saints turned in an improved performance, which the players can take a good deal pride from when looking forward to the remainder of the season. Unfortunately the improved effort was not enough against a tall and athletic Westminster team.

At the end of the first quarter the scores were tied at 18 each, that was an indication of how the game would see-saw throughout. At half-time Westminster had a 5 point advantage, which was quickly wiped out by Saints at the start of the third. The scores at the start of the final quarter were 50 – 52 in favour of the visitors. Unfortunately Westminster’s superior rebounding was the difference maker in the fourth, as their taller athletes scored from some key offensive rebounds.
