Saints U18 win in overtime
 
Sheffield Saints once again demonstrated their habit of not being able to hold onto a lead in games.
 
Midway through the second quarter Saints had built a comfortable 10 point lead against a tall and talented Cheshire team, then for the next 15 minutes they made bad decisions, missed defensive assignments and allowed the visitors to wipe out the deficit and take a 10 point lead themselves.
 
Fortunately Saints fighting spirit allowed them to claw their way back into the game and tie the scores at 61 each when regulation time ran out. This took the game to overtime, during which Saints deeper bench meant there was more energy and fresher legs providing intensive defence and the opportunity to get some fast break scores to seal the win.
 
The final score was 73 – 67 in favour of the Saints, but the players know this was a lucky escape that on another day could have gone badly wrong.
